Sleepy Wrap...

Yesterday I caught up with a very dear friend who is having her 3rd baby in the very near future. When we were chatting to arrange the lunch date she asked me if I used the Ergo Baby with H as she had heard and seen very good things about it and was thinking about possibly getting it for this baby. I used a Baby Bjorn (as did she with her previous 2) but I said I would more than likely get an Ergo if we have another as I too have heard and read very good things about them. They look very cosy and I think you would get longer use out of them than the Baby Bjorn.

I found the Bjorn excellent but once H hit the 9+ kg mark he was just too heavy for it and within 10 minutes of him being in it I would have a headache from the stress it put on my shoulder muscles... so I had to stop using it. From what I have seen of the Ergo Baby this is less of an issue and many people have used their Ergo baby up until their little one is 2.

The other great item I have and still use is a Sleepy Wrap. The Sleepy wrap is also know as the Boba BabyWrap...it is a one size fits all wrap so it's easy for both parents to use without any adjustments...it has many different carrying positions from birth through to 18 months.

I took the Sleepy Wrap over to show my friend yesterday and she thought it was great and also something she would use with her little one.

In my experience of the sleepy wrap it is not as tricky as it looks to tie (practice makes perfect) and it distributes the weight evenly. When I put H into the wrap now there is no pressure on my shoulders or back...he is cosy and I am comfortable - WIN/WIN!!

I don't have a recent photo of H and I using the wrap but I have one from when he was little and another from when he was 7 months old...

There are many instructional videos on YouTube demonstrating the different ways to carry the baby...here is the one for the newborn hold...

There are many wraps out there which I am sure are just as effective. I have only had experience with the sleepy wrap so am writing from my own personal experience...

Our Little Picasso...

I caught up with a close girlfriend and her little girl (she is H's girlfriend - they are only 3 weeks apart and their Dad's are best friends...so...no pressure kids!!!) the other day and we were talking about art and craft with the kids. My friend also has a little one about to turn 3 so she has been my sounding board many times on all things kids...

My takeaway from the conversation was...crayon's are fine but not the best there is...they do not wipe off completely and can be a little hard for the kids to manage. Her advice was Pip-Squeaks markers by Crayola...they are easy for the kids to handle, come in great colours, non toxic and they really do wipe/wash off. There are, apparently, many products out there that claim to wash/wipe off that really don't.

You don't know how grateful I am that I have her to discuss all these things and get great tips like this...

Later that same day I was at a local news agency and they happened to have the Pip-Squeaks there so I bought some...

I was sitting at the dining room table the other day and H wandered over and wanted up...he was sitting on my lap and picked up a pen and found one of my notebooks and was trying to use the pen...so I thought I would give the Pip-Squeaks a go... here is the result...

He had such a ball...there was a little trying to eat the markers (the yellow for some reason) so I am pleased they are non toxic...

He got the markers all over his hands...and true to my girlfriends advice they really did wipe off...I was so thrilled!!!

I emailed her that afternoon to let her know it was a success and at the end of her email response back she wrote this...

Perfect Day for a Stroll...

Today was perfect weather here in Sydney. Soooo we decided to go for a long walk after H's morning sleep to soak up some Vitamin D...

Sydney's beautiful harbour didn't disappoint...

The Kiosk under Pier restaurant...this is a great spot to sit and eat (or just stop for a coffee) whilst enjoying some sunshine and enjoy the great views of the harbour...

I love walking along here...I find being near the water so calming. For me it's a win win...you are doing something good for you by walking or running along here and you can enjoy the stunning view over the harbour...what's not to like!!!

There we so many people out today...many enjoying the lovely day and lots and lots of runners training for the annual City to Surf fun run that's next weekend...

 Aren't these trees gorgeous...they are so old and majestic...

 

One day I'd like to go for a fly in one of the Sydney Sea Planes...for something really decadent it would be lovely to fly up to Palm Beach for a long lunch...

 

It was such a perfect day for those having a long lunch at Catalina...lucky ducks!!!

We had to stop for a bit of a walk around at the halfway mark as H was getting a little restless and needed out of his pram...as soon as he was free he took off across the park...so brave...headed straight for a dog. This was one of the few moments he was happy to have his hand held...he is such a Mr Independent...a little man on a mission!!

Isn't this house gorgeous?...It is one of my favourites in the area. I love the green shutters and what you can see of the terrace at the front. You can only get a peek of it here but I was having a lovely time imagining what the rest of the house looked like...inside and out...

Happy Friday...from a Happy little Vegemite...

Have you had a good week? We've had a nice quiet week...

The highlight of the week was H's first music class...He LOVES music and is always dancing, singing and clapping along to music. I had one of those classic moments where you wish you had a camera on hand...we were listening to the band of the week and playing the drums sitting around in a circle...H decided he wasn't happy with his own drums so he left me for the boy sitting next to him and jammed with him then he decided to stand in the middle of the circle and dance...it was absolutely classic, we were all laughing and it was a real highlight for me as a parent to see your child so blissfully happy...the saying 'dance like no one is watching' sprang to mind.

I don't have anything exciting planned for the weekend...have you?

Mirror, Mirror on the wall...

A few weeks ago I posted a sneak peak of a mirror we were hanging in our living room...it's finally up.

I'm really happy with it and can't wait to get the room completely finished. Last week I posted about our framed seaweed prints. The mirror and prints are on the same wall and I think they work well together...

To stack or not to stack...

I am really liking the bracelet stack trend. I find myself more and more drawn to it and am thinking of giving it a go...not sure if I'm 'funky chicken' enough to pull it off though...
